A Personal Review on the PFC Ballistic Off-Body Bag
By Chris Madeira
I first met the B.O.B.B. (Ballistic Off-Body Bag) in January of 2015 at a Progressive FORCE Concepts training expo during last year’s SHOT Show. BOBB is a rapid deployment concealed carry system in an off-the-body bag that contains a custom holster, two Type IIIA soft body armor panels and ample storage for everyday carry items. At first I was a little skeptical as I was not one who carried around a bag with me frequently and I chose a more traditional concealed carry method using an “Inside-The-Waistband” holster.
During the training event, Deputy Chief Instructor Doug Janowicz demo’ed the system for me and had me run some drills using UTM non-lethal munitions. After my third try pulling down the Velcro flap, drawing and presenting the gun, I had the technique down and began to see some advantages in the system. After my familiarization with the product, Doug had me work through some vehicle defense drills using BOBB. Here is where I saw the brilliance in the design. From a seated position with the bag on my chest, drawing and presenting a gun was simple and extremely fast. There was no fighting with a seatbelt, no shifting of the hips to gain access to my holstered firearm – it was just pull, present and shoot. I was so impressed that I left the training event with my first generation BOBB. Continue article HERE!
