Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support courses are designed to improve the quality of first responder trauma care and decrease mortality. This academic program is based on pre-hospital trauma care principles, emphasizing treatment of multi-symptom trauma patients with specific needs. PHTLS promotes critical thinking as the foundation for providing quality care. It is based on the belief that given a good base of knowledge and principles, EMS practitioners are capable of making reasonable decisions regarding patient care. This PHTLS course is continuously updated and revised to remain current with advances in the field, ATLS Guidelines, and real-world feedback from PHTLS participants. Graduates will receive a PHTLS 4-year certification through the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) along with 16 continuing education credit hours towards recertification. This training is a must for any pre-hospital EMS provider.
